Study Reveals that people in Emerging Countries More Likely to Trust AI

According to KPMG's recent study, people in emerging countries such as India, Brazil, China, and South Africa are more optimistic about Artificial Intelligence (AI) than those living in developed countries like Japan and Finland.

According to the sources, there is a higher level of trust and acceptance of AI technologies in these regions. The global popularity of AI is on the rise, and the study showed that over 82% of respondents claim that they possess some knowledge pertaining to it.

Further, numerous countries reported high engagement with AI technologies at work, indicating a growing trend towards its incorporation in various industries.

According to a study conducted by KPMG, only Brazil, India, China, and South Africa have a population where more than half of the people have expressed strong trust and acceptance of artificial intelligence technologies.

The study further highlights that India has the highest overall acceptance rate of AI, with 75% of the population indicating their trust in it. The report also reveals that emerging countries, particularly those that belong to the BRICS, have the highest engagement with AI technology. China takes the top spot with 75% of its population using AI at work, followed by India with 66% and Brazil with 50%.

Developed countries have a higher level of scepticism towards artificial intelligence, as per the survey conducted in collaboration with the University of Queensland, involving responses from over 17,000 individuals across 17 countries, including the BRICS nations, Australia, Japan and various Asian, European and Nordic nations.

Japan and Finland have the lowest trust levels of just 23% in AI, while in the US, 40% of the population trusts AI, but only 24% are willing to use it. The survey further explored the use and acceptance of AI in various professional fields like finance, medicine and human resources, as well as in everyday activities.
